Comprehensive Pregnancy Care
From Planning to Parenthood

Preconception counselling helps couples planning a pregnancy optimise their health and increase their chances of a healthy outcome. This counselling session provides a safe space to discuss various factors that could impact pregnancy and address any emotional concerns or anxieties you might have about starting a family.
What We Discuss:
Understanding Your Family Health: We'll explore your family medical history to identify potential risks and ensure you're fully informed.
Optimising Your Health: We'll review any pre-existing medical conditions (like diabetes, hypertension, thyroid issues, or seizure disorders) to ensure they're well-controlled before pregnancy. We'll also discuss the safety of any medications you're currently taking. We'll also discuss your lifestyle habits, including weight management, for a smoother pregnancy journey.
Preparing for Baby's Arrival: We'll provide guidance on achieving a healthy weight, recommend essential vaccinations, and advise you on starting prenatal vitamins to support your baby's development from very beginning.
Genetic testing (optional): We can discuss the option of genetic testing to identify potential risks for inherited conditions.

There are two main delivery methods: Vaginal Delivery and Cesarean Section (C-section).
We understand childbirth is a personal experience, and our team is here to help you make informed choices about what's best for you and your baby.
Vaginal Delivery:
This is the natural birth process where the baby passes through the birth canal. It can sometimes require assistance with instruments like forceps or a vacuum. Vaginal delivery often offers a faster recovery time compared to a C-section.
Cesarean Section (C-section):
This is a surgical procedure where the baby is delivered through an incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus. C-sections can be planned in advance for certain medical reasons or performed emergently during labor if complications arise.
Pain Management:
Epidural analgesia is an option for pain management during labor. It involves a thin tube inserted in the lower back to deliver medication that numbs the lower body. This allows you to experience contractions but reduces pain significantly.
Making Informed Decisions:
We understand childbirth is a personal experience. Our team will assess potential risks and discuss both vaginal delivery and C-section options with you to help you choose the method that best suits your individual needs and preferences.
We support you on your journey of motherhood, focusing on both your physical and emotional well-being during this transformative time.
Breastfeeding Guidance:
We offer guidance on proper positioning and techniques to promote successful breastfeeding, which can be beneficial for both you and your baby.
Postpartum Discomforts:
We address common concerns like breast tenderness (mastalgia), inflammation (mastitis), cracked nipples, and breast abscesses. Treatment options and prevention tips will be discussed.
Rest and Recovery:
Prioritizing rest and recovery is crucial after delivery. We'll provide guidance on getting enough sleep, delegating tasks, and creating a support system to help you manage during this time.
Emotional Well-being:
We understand that emotional well-being is just as important as physical health. We'll discuss the potential for postpartum depression and provide resources to help you identify and manage any emotional challenges you might face. Additionally, we can connect you with mental health professionals or support groups for further assistance.
